I was sitting on a plane from Columbus, Ohio to St Louis, Missouri. In my seat, I was patiently waiting to depart and trying my very best to focus on my daily reading. However, glancing up, I noticed the lady sitting next to me was reading Glamour magazine. The title of the article caught my eye, “I lied to him, now what?” As I thought about it for a few minutes, the title stuck a nerve deep inside me. I am not sure why, but it made me think about the person that would read this article in the hopes that it would actually help them.
We live in a world full of people. Ok, I realize that is obvious to everyone, however, it is simple truth. The problem with all these people are that we are made up of lots of flesh. All that flesh causes us to make mistakes and fail of a daily basis. Mistakes that lead to pain and regret. Allowing our flesh to lead us, we make mistakes and search for answers to fix the problem in all the wrong places.
Unfortunately, people turn to Glamour, of whatever magazine has a bold, catching, title that claims to have all the answers. The issue here is simple, our carnal flesh can not fix our carnal flesh. We need spirit to intervene in our lives; only our Lord Jesus Christ can do this for us. Every step we take should be in the spirit, not in the flesh. Walking in the flesh will only lead us to sin, mistakes, and regrets.
Galatians 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
