\u201cAnd it came to pass, that, while they communed together and reasoned, Jesus himself drew near, and went with them.\u201d\r\n<\/em>Luke 24:15 KJV<\/pre>\n
We\u2019ve all traveled that road, the road of disappointment and doubt. The path where prayers seem unanswered, expectations go unmet, and the spiritual fire feels more like smoke. It\u2019s on this road, when our hearts are heavy and our faith feels fragile, that Jesus often comes close. We don\u2019t always recognize Him, but He\u2019s there.<\/p>\n

The Road of Disappointment<\/strong><\/h5>\n
The two disciples walking to Emmaus weren\u2019t rebellious or faithless; they were hurting. They had hoped<\/em> Jesus was the one who would redeem Israel (Luke 24:21). But the Cross shattered their expectations.<\/p>\n
Instead of staying in Jerusalem, the city of promise, they started walking away. Emmaus wasn\u2019t far, but it was in a completely different direction. It\u2019s the same path many take when life doesn\u2019t go as planned. Spiritual dryness, confusion, or even trauma can cause us to step back from the place where we once encountered God.<\/p>\n
But notice: Jesus meets them there, <\/strong>not in the upper room or the temple, but on the dusty, discouraging road out of town. That\u2019s grace.<\/p>\n

When You Don\u2019t See Him, He Still Sees You<\/strong><\/h5>\n
Luke tells us that Jesus \u201chimself drew near, and went with them. But their eyes were holden that they should not know him\u201d (vv. 15\u201316).<\/p>\n
They were walking with Jesus but couldn\u2019t recognize Him. Theologically, we see this as divinely purposeful. Yet, through experience, it reveals a universal truth: sometimes God is closest when He feels most absent.<\/strong><\/p>\n
The Bible consistently reminds us that God never abandons us.<\/p>\n
