Some people believe that if the Lord is with you, the skies should always be clear. Faith is often reduced to the idea that blessings mean comfort, calm waters, and predictable days. But anyone who has walked with Jesus for more than five minutes knows better. Storms still come and go. Waves still crash hard. Life still surprises you.<\/p>\n
But here\u2019s the truth that keeps me grounded:<\/p>\n
Having God on your boat doesn\u2019t mean you\u2019ll never face storms; it means no storm can sink your ship.<\/p>\n
That idea has been burning in my heart lately. It\u2019s simple, but it\u2019s the simple that hits deep and touches real life. Because if you\u2019re breathing, you\u2019re facing something. And if you\u2019re living for God, you can be sure the enemy is stirring waters somewhere.<\/p>\n
But storms won’t have the final say.<\/p>\n
I can\u2019t shake the image from Mark 4. The disciples are rowing across the Sea of Galilee when a violent storm suddenly erupts. These men weren\u2019t fragile. They weren\u2019t easily rattled. Many were fishermen who grew up on that water with nets in their hands and salt in their hair. If they\u2019re scared, it\u2019s serious.<\/p>\n
The boat is taking on water. The winds are howling. And Jesus, the very God manifested in flesh (Colossians 2:9), is asleep in the back of the ship.<\/p>\n
They wake Him in a panic, and He rises with full authority.<\/p>\n
\u201cPeace, be still.\u201d<\/p>\n
And just like that, the storm comes to an end.<\/p>\n
The disciples were amazed. \u201cWhat kind of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?\u201d (Mark 4:41). They hadn\u2019t yet fully grasped what you and I now understand: the One in the boat wasn\u2019t just “a\u201d power; He was all power.<\/p>\n
The longer I live, the more I realize that storms don\u2019t mean God walked away and left you to drown. There\u2019s no doctrine in Scripture, no promise in the Word, that suggests His presence removes adversity. Actually, it is the opposite.<\/p>\n
And none of these men were outside God’s will. They were exactly where they needed to be.<\/p>\n
We preach it, teach it, and live it: the Holy Ghost doesn\u2019t remove you from storms; He carries you through them. That\u2019s the power of the Apostolic life. According to Scripture, the Spirit not only births us (Acts 2:38) but also strengthens, guides, and sustains us.<\/p>\n
Storms may rise, but their power ceases the moment He steps aboard.<\/p>\n
Something shifts the moment Jesus takes His place in your boat. The winds no longer determine your outcome. Fear no longer drives the narrative. Failure no longer has the power to define your future.<\/p>\n
Here\u2019s what actually happens:<\/p>\n
He calmed the sea, and then He confronted the fear that had taken hold of His disciples. His very presence brings peace.<\/p>\n
Isaiah 43:2 states, \u201cWhen thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee.\u201d Not if\u2014when. And He added, \u201cthey shall not overflow thee.\u201d That\u2019s covenant language.<\/p>\n
Storms push you to find out what you really believe. But storms also show who He truly is.<\/p>\n
What appeared to be a disaster turns into testimony, and what felt like loss becomes deliverance. What seemed like the end transforms into a new beginning. No force can defeat the One who shaped the seas with His own hands.<\/p>\n
I have lived long enough to see that too many people want Jesus on the boat, but they want to keep their hands on the wheel. They want Him present but not in charge. They want comfort, not lordship. But the storm reveals that approach for what it truly is: a sinking plan.<\/p>\n
When Jesus is truly Lord, storms lose their power. Furthermore, when He\u2019s the Captain, even shipwrecks become miracles. When His Spirit fills, guides, and leads you, you become storm-proof, not because of your strength, but because of His.<\/p>\n
That\u2019s why the new birth is essential and why the Acts 2:38 message still matters. It is also why walking in the Spirit is necessary; a Spirit-filled life isn\u2019t weak; it\u2019s protected.<\/p>\n
If you\u2019re reading this while the wind is blowing in your face, hold on. Don\u2019t jump ship, and don\u2019t assume the shaking means God has abandoned you. He\u2019s still here and in control. He\u2019s still speaking peace amid the chaos.<\/p>\n
And if Jesus is in your boat, you\u2019re going to make it. You\u2019re not going under, and you\u2019re not going to drown. You will not be destroyed.<\/p>\n
Storms may roar, but His voice still carries. And one word from Him can still bring every wave to its knees.<\/p>\n
Say it with your whole heart: \u201cI will not fear the storm, because the Master of the storm is with me.\u201d<\/p>\n
Waves may crash. Winds may shake. Life may throw surprises you never see coming. But no storm can sink a vessel carrying God’s presence. You\u2019re going to make it.<\/p>\n
And when you step out on the other side, you\u2019ll have a testimony only a storm can produce.<\/p>\n
